A girl has died after she was knocked down by a lorry on a petroleum station forecourt.

The 68-year-old was strolling on the Tesco filling station on Lanark Street, Carluke, South Lanarkshire, at about 7.10am on Monday when she was struck by the DAF lorry.

Emergency companies had been known as however the lady died on the scene, police stated.

The lady's household have been knowledgeable and a report is to be despatched to the procurator fiscal.

Officers are eager to speak to 4 different drivers thought to have been on the petrol station on the time.

Sergeant Stewart Dyer stated: 'The crash occurred early within the morning, nonetheless the forecourt was busy with motorists heading off to their commute, so I would be eager to talk to anybody who was there to contact police.

'We perceive from our enquiries that there have been 4 automobiles on the forecourt on the time of the crash and I wish to hint these drivers as they could have info that might assist with our enquiries.'
