In Photos: Gorgeous Sea Blob in Monterey Bay


Scientists not too long ago rediscovered a mysterious sea creatures known as a Bathochordaeus charon lurking within the waters of Monterey Bay, California. The creature, which seems to be a bit like a psychedelic slinky, is a huge larvacean, a kind of filter feeder that creates a diaphanous mucus "home" to gather meals that's directed in the direction of its mouth.
