Well-liked former weatherman Ian McCaskill has died on the age of 78 after residing with dementia for 5 years.
The BBC meteorologist, famed for his mild Scottish accent and thick-rimmed glasses, was recognized by thousands and thousands for his light-hearted presentation.
He died on Saturday following a prolonged battle with dementia, his daughter confirmed.
Born on July 28 1938 in Glasgow, Mr McCaskill started working for the BBC in 1978, throughout a time through which it was extremely uncommon to seek out regional accents on the Company.

Together with Michael Fish, he was one of the recognisable faces from tv as a consequence of his nearly nightly spots presenting the forecast for the subsequent day.

Some 18 years later Mr McCaskill would admit that he had in truth given the forecast to Mr Fish that day.
His daughter Kirsty McCaskill stated in a household assertion: 'Ian McCaskill's household is gloomy to announce that Ian, 78, died on Saturday after residing with dementia for the previous 5 years.
'Ian was a really pretty man who liked his household unconditionally and introduced a number of sunshine to individuals's lives along with his pleasant smile, kindness and sharp wit.
'He's survived by his spouse Pat, whom he adored, two daughters, Vicky and Kirsty, two step-sons, Tim and Matthew, and 9 grandchildren. He shall be deeply missed.'
