An initiative designed to encourage youngsters to play chess has been launched by Authorities Minister and ex-Waitrose boss Mark Value.

The Commerce Minister, now Lord Value (pictured beneath), has already printed an illustrated fairytale-style ebook, The Silly King, to show kids the rudiments of the traditional recreation.

Now he's launching a free app to allow them to pit their abilities towards family and friends and even a pc (go to thefoolishking.com for particulars). 

On Friday he may also unveil a worldwide chess league so youngsters across the globe can problem one another over the festive interval.
